The popular Afrikaans arts festival – InniBos Kunstefees – is set to take place from 29 June – 2 July 2016 at a variety of locations around Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. Showcasing the very best of Afrikaans music, theatre, comedy, visual arts, and literature, InniBos was established back in 2004, and is held annually.

Over the course of the 4-day event, over 200 musicians, artists and actors will perform for a festival crowd of approximately 100 000. In addition, there will be a vast array of food, drink, craft and art stalls available to public – all of which ensure a good time is had by all.
Several top South African musicians will take the Standard Bank Main Stage at the 2016 event, including Elvis Blue, Kurt Darren, Dewalk Wasserfall, MoniQue, Nicholis Louw, Arno Jordaan, Kahn Morbee, Francois can Coke, Prime Circle, Eden, and BlackByrd. Tickets for the music-related performances range from R100 to R225, depending on the particular day and on whether or not a Golden Circle ticket is purchased.
Short local films to be screened at the kykNET Bosbioskoop include Hartloop, Foto, Kleingeld, Sweisbril, and Vryslag, while full-length local films set to be screened are Sink, Modder En Bloed, Die Wonderwerker, Die Storie Van Klara Viljee, and Paljas.

On the theatrical front, make sure to keep an eye out for shows such as Dowwe Molla Uit-die-kaskenades, Schalk Bezuidenhout: Lewendig, Kô Lag ’n Bietjie, Elders FM, and Punk in Plakkies, at the Boma Kuierteater.
A stand-out of the festival is the ‘book crawl’ whereby attendees hop on a bus, travelling from stop to stop to listen to numerous authors speak about their work, and give live readings.
As one of the most family friendly festivals in South Africa, there are also a range of kids activities on offer to keep the little ones occupied. From children’s theatre, to a supervised children’s entertainment area – there are plenty of ways to keep them amused and active.
